What a week! Grandmomma fell and is back in the hospital - but we think she's relatively okay. 

Then Phoenix Comicon announced Jenna Coleman will be appearing one day only on Sunday, May 28, 2017.

Jenna Coleman is an English actress best known for her role as Clara Oswald in the British television series Doctor Who.

Born in Blackpool, Lancashire, England, Coleman began her tenure as the 11th Doctor's companion in 2012 on the long running BBC series Doctor Who. Sworn to secrecy during the audition process, Coleman would refer to the project only as Men on Waves (an anagram for "Woman Seven") when asked what she was auditioning for. Producer Steven Moffat remarked that one of the primary reasons Coleman landed the coveted spot was because of the chemistry she shared with Smith and her innate ability to talk faster than him during scenes together.

Coleman's first appearance as The Doctor's companion was originally planned to happen on the 2012 Christmas special. However, she made a surprise appearance  in Asylum of the Daleks playing a relative of her character Clara Oswald, Oswin Oswald. Oswin subsequently died later in that particular episode and appeared again as her own distant relative in the episode, The Snowmen. Her final incarnation as Clara Oswald was introduced in the episode, The Bells of Saint John, where she carried on as The Doctor's regular companion, continuing on in her role as companion when current Doctor, Peter Capaldi, stepped into the role as the 12th Doctor. Her run as Clara Oswald concluded in 2015 with the show's ninth series.

In 2016, Coleman was seen in the television drama Victoria as Queen Victoria. Chronicling the early life of the Queen from her accession to the throne to her courtship with Prince Albert, the series aired to rave reviews on ITV in the United Kingdom. Following the success of the first round of episodes, a second series has been ordered and is currently in production.

You may now officially call me an Old Battle Axe. 

A battle-axe is a derogatory term for an aggressive and domineering woman.

Perhaps the best example was Carrie Nation, who wielded a hatchet and made it her symbol. Not only was she a militant temperance activist, but she also became involved in the suffragette campaign for votes for women which cemented the stereotype.

So Momma and I were delighted when watching Doctor Who, and the Twelfth Doctor challenged a Viking to an axe battle. (Yes, yes, I know. We're a year behind.)

I knew I had to have one for myself! It took awhile, but then we spotted this beauty that sounded exactly like Peter Capaldi's description of the Twelfth Doctor's guitar: 

"We ended up with a guitar that looked like a Fender Stratocaster that had been described to someone who had never seen one."

Oh, yeah. I be jammin'.

It just occurred to Me that I never shared this photo of Clementine and I with Alex Kingston of Doctor Who fame!

We met her on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Phoenix Comicon. She, of course, loved us and later that day signed our photo.

Thankfully, the power of our TARDIS backpack saved us, and the TARDIS bag Momma carried saved our signed photo when our house was destroyed that night by The Fire.

First Wil Wheaton at Phoenix Comicon 11, and now his mom.

Well, his show mom.

Gates McFadden was cast in 1987 as Dr. Beverly Crusher on Star Trek: The Next Generation as a widow balancing motherhood and a career as well as Captain Jean-Luc Picard's love interest.

McFadden was replaced by actress Diana Muldaur as the Enterprise's Chief Medical Officer at the end of the first season. (Muldaur's character, Dr. Katherine Pulaski, didn't make it to the third season.) McFadden was persuaded to reprise her role, which she retained through the remainder of the series.

McFadden reprised her role for all four TNG movies and also provided her voice for personal computer games Star Trek: A Final Unity and Star Trek Generations. Also, McFadden directed the TNG episode "Genesis" (her only directing credit to date) and choreographed the dance routine in "Data's Day."

I shall be dressing as the doctor herself.

Wow, that makes two Doctors in one weekend!

Who is coming to Phoenix Comicon 16?

Known for roles in some of the most popular television series in both the United States and the United Kingdom, 2008 saw Alex Kingston in one of her most beloved recurring roles to genre fans when she guest-starred in the fourth series of Doctor Who. Her debut as the character River Song was in the two-part episode "Silence in the Library"/"Forest of the Dead.” Originally thought to be a one-off, River Song was such a hit with fans she has since appeared in 15 episodes of the series ... and counting.

So what shall we wear?

Clementine plans to wear an outfit inspired by the one worn by Mels as she regenerated into River Song.

I shall be dressed as the 11th Doctor - fez and all!

Momma will be busy!

Have I mentioned lately how much I love Doctor Who?

Neither Momma nor I cared much for Peter Capaldi, the twelfth Doctor much ... until this season. 

Showrunner, writer and producer Steven Moffat made some wonderful changes this series - making the Doctor warmer and switching the sonic screwdriver for sonic sunglasses.

"As of now every kid with glasses is Doctor Who! Kid whose parents don't want to shell out for a Sonic Screwdriver toy, just put on a pair of sunglasses, you're Doctor Who! And best of all, every pin-brained celebrity walking into a party with shades on is now cosplaying Doctor Who!"

My secret is out.

Who's excited for Phoenix Comicon's Fan Fest this weekend?

Why? To see The Doctors, of course.

Colin Baker is best known for playing the Sixth Doctor on "Doctor Who" from 1984-1986, beginning with the episode "The Caves of Androzani" where he regenerated from the Fifth Doctor. While he portrayed the Doctor for three seasons on television, Baker also appeared as the Sixth Doctor in Doctor Who audio plays, the stage production "Doctor Who: The Ultimate Adventure," and the Children in Need sketch "Dimensions in Time."

In 1996, Paul McGann became the Eighth Doctor for the television film "Doctor Who." The film was produced by the BBC, Universal Studios and Fox. If successful, McGann would continue as the Eighth Doctor in a television series. The series was not picked up, but he continued to play the Eighth Doctor in a series of audio plays, and his image was used on Doctor Who novels. For the 50th anniversary of "Doctor Who," McGann was seen regenerating into the War Doctor on the mini-episode "The Night of the Doctor."

Sew Fun Doll Clothes

It was announced on June 1, 2013 that Matt Smith plans to leave the Doctor Who television series - sob! 

The 11th Doctor plans to regenerate during the 2013 Christmas special.

Matt Smith is my favorite Doctor, but my favorite companion was Martha Jones.

Who will replace him and become the 12th Doctor?

Many, of course, think it is time to see a female Doctor.

 I hereby announce my candidacy. 

Can't you just see me as the 12th Doctor, with Clementine as my Companion?!

I have my fez enroute, and I already have a sonic screwdriver.

What else could you ask for?

Several people have asked me about my recent TARDIS references about American Girl Place - Los Angeles.


Honestly, don't you people watch television?

The TARDIS, or Time And Relative Dimension In Space, is Doctor Who's vehicle and home that can take him to any place and any time.

A properly maintained and piloted TARDIS can transport its occupants to any point in time and space. The interior of a TARDIS is bigger on the inside, and its outside can blend in with its surroundings using the ship's "chameleon circuit."

Sadly, Dr. Who's TARDIS has a broken chameleon circuit which is why it has appeared as a London police box after a 1963 visit to London. 

Obviously, AGPLA doesn't move through time and space (or does it), but it does have rooms dedicated to 1764, 1812, 1824, 1853, 1864, 1914, 1934, 1944, and 1974.

That's a lot of time in one space.

I might have to ask Jennifer to crochet a TARDIS for me, too.

 

All that glitters

While at American Girl Place - Los Angeles, I was curious why we spent so much time in 1812. (I tell you, that place is a giant TARDIS!)

While pondering this, my eye was caught by the pewter dishes on the table.

Caroline celebrates her 10th birthday with family and friends as they enjoy a tableful of homemade treats! Your girl can host a similar party with:

Besides, she had a big purchase to make for my Big Sister.

One in a million

I went off to find my friend Ivy after leaving the indignity of the restroom.

Harumph.

I found her hanging out with our friend Julie in 1974.

Ivy was greatly astonished to find several doppelgängers of herself standing around. I comforted her by saying there was an opportunity to be found in clones.

I demonstrated by taking her into the 1864 room (I think of AGPLA as one, giant TARDIS) and tried to waken my doppelgängers from their stasis.

Mwahaha. 

Dozens, nay hundreds, of Addys at my command!

Too bad it didn't work.

Momma said it took more than my half-dime to wake them from their slumber.

So now I am saving up. In the meantime, my Big Sister's Addy is amenable to my plans.

Clinton Corners, N.Y.

I read about The Most Wonderful Library this weekend, and if Miss Sparrow and I weren't so firmly committed to our floating bookmobile I'd make one myself!

A TARDIS* library! (Well, sort of.)

It's actually a recycled K8 English Telephone Box in Clinton Corners, N.Y.

The good citizens of Clinton Corners got an old Telephone Box, installed shelves and put in a light powered by a solar panel.

I have since discovered they got the idea from a similar library in Coed-y-Paen, Wales (but a scoundrel stole all its books!), and a Northumberland Telephone box contains a heart defibrillator!

Now that's what I call living green! 

The very thought of a TARDIS library makes my heart palpitate. (It's a good thing the one Telephone Box has a defibrillator in it!) Just think how I could save banned books!

*A TARDIS is a time machine and spacecraft in the shape of a 1960s-style London police box in television's Doctor Who.

Up, up and away

I think it is safe to reveal this now, but I served as a Union spy during the Civil War.

Something you might have suspected since I have spoken freely of my work for the Underground, but not all my work was underground. Sometimes it was 500 feet up in the air!

How did I accomplish that marvelous feat, you ask? By volunteering as an Aeronaut.

But how did this come about? My work for the Underground had become well known. My eyes and my color made spying easy. Then I gained a reputation with my unusually stout parasol, made by Momma. (It's too short to function well as a parasol but it's dandy as a self-defense weapon!)

I also trained myself as a detective and became proficient with a magnifying glass. (I became interested in its use after reading future Sherlock Holmes books.)

So after reading about the formation of the Union Army Balloon Corps I raced over to HQ to volunteer my services.

At first I was mocked and ridiculed ("A girl! In the Army!!"), but I persevered and eventually won them over after demonstrating my varied and unique skills.

So I  was trained in the use of a telescope (which I admit was hard with my eyes and I still prefer my binoculars) and my very own aether pistol! Don't worry, the pistol was permanently set on "Stun."

The Balloon Corps and I served the Union Army from October 1861 until the summer of 1863, when it was disbanded. I got to participate in four major battles though: Bull Run, Yorktown, Fair Oaks and Vicksburg.

Now you might be wondering, how did I manage all that when I didn't reach Philadelphia until 1864? Did you forget my TARDIS?

But what else could I possibly do when I belatedly read about Thaddeus S. C. Lowe, who met with U.S. President Abraham Lincoln on July 11, 1861, and proposed a demonstration with his own balloon, the Enterprise.

The Enterprise, really! How could I resist that!

I'm a time traveler as well as an Underground agent.

I recently met a gentleman who gave me this. I don't know who he was (I think he was a doctor) and he gave me his old time machine called a TARDIS.

The first place I hit was the library. Future libraries, to be exact.

They're helping me to decide where to go. Disneyland was one place I quickly decided was a must see! 

So who knows, maybe you'll see me!
