When Irish eyes are smiling

Tacy Kelly has big blue Irish eyes, 10 red ringlets (the wig isn't perfect but it will do), and freckles. (She's a re-wigged Kit.) Tacy is painfully shy. She has a huge family so she doesn't have as much to spend as the other two. Tacy is based upon Maud's best friend Bick.

Momma thought about re-wigging a Kit since she has the blue eyes and freckles she wanted, but had purchased a re-wigged doll thinking she was Tacy. However, when Momma got her she knew she wasn't Tacy, but Tib wearing Tacy's hair! Thankfully, that wig peeled off.

My Valentine Tea with Ahmie

Isn't Kit adorable? Even in pink?

Madelon sent this photo of her Kit saying, "We hope that Ahmie gets well soon! Our entire tea set came from Kmart. Top and skirt by Sophia's and table by Our Generation."

I'd be her Valentine, wouldn't you?

Thanks Madelon and Kit!

Have you had Tea with Ahmie today?

Happy birthday, Ruthie ~ Aug. 22, 1923

Happy birthday, Ruthie!

I don't know about you, but I think Ruthie would want a princess party.

And since she liked Kit's birthday dress so much I think Kit's Aunt Millie made her a matching one.

Happy birthday, Kit ~ May 19, 1923

Happy birthday, Kit!

Kit’s 10th birthday is approaching, but there’s no time to plan a party, and no money, either, since Dad still doesn’t have a job. Yet with Aunt Millie’s thriftiness and good ideas, she seems to be able to make anything happen!

Oops! I did it again

I discovered this morning that I forgot my friend Rebecca Rubin's birthday yesterday.

Oops.

It's a good thing I can time travel. She'll never know I forgot it!

!יום הולדת שמח

Rebecca's family would likely celebrate her birthday with a mixture of Russian, Jewish and American traditions.

In Russia, birthday parties would be celebrated on or after one's birthday, not before. And never give someone birthday wishes before their birthday!

If you're Russian, you may receive a birthday pie with a birthday greeting cut into the crust instead of a cake!

Jewish boys become bar mitzvah on their 13th birthday. Jewish girls become bat mitzvah on their 12th birthday (or sometimes on their 13th birthday in Reform and Conservative Judaism). This marks the transition where they become obligated in commandments of which they were previously exempted and are counted as part of the community.

And finally, a listing of all my friends' birthdays (including mine!) so I don't forget again!
