Grumpy Addie

I may seem to be on a cat kick lately, but I was delighted to discover this weekend that Internet celebrity Tardar Sauce, also known as "Grumpy Cat," is an Arizona resident.

Tardar Sauce is a female cat known for her grumpy facial expression. Her owner says that her grumpy face is due to feline dwarfism.

Grumpy Cat's popularity originated from a picture posted to a social news website and was made into a meme with various grumpy captions.

"The Official Grumpy Cat" on Facebook has more than 970,000 Likes. Tardar Sauce has an agent, and a book and film are due later this year.

Amazingly, Grumpy Cat was featured on the front page of The Wall Street Journal (The Wall Street Journal!) on May 30, 2013.

I wonder what I need to do to get featured on The Wall Street Journal?

Maybe my pal Angry Jess can give me some pointers.

Academy Awards: Vote for Best Writing

Well, my dear friend Angry Jess announced the nominees this morning including yours truly. I have provided links for the other nominees. Good luck to everyone but most of all ... ME!

Writing? Oh yes, do let's highlight this category. Writers never get enough recognition. That's because most people today watch "Reality TV" and labor under the delusion that actors are geniuses who make up their "dialogue" on the spot.

Yeah, let's rethink that. There actually ARE writers on Reality TV and while I regret that they've had to sink so low, hey, it's work. They have rent to pay and stuff to buy just like Tolstoy did.

The people who wrote the blogs below, they don't get paid for doing what they do. But you should still recognize their work and vote for your favorite, because writers make the world go round.

BEST WRITING

Best blog centered exclusively around American Girl dolls.

And the nominees are...

(Note that I have once again voluntarily eliminated myself from being nominated in this category so that others have a chance of winning).

That Jess. Always so modest.

And the nominees are...

I was quite touched to receive this message from my dear friend, Angry Jess on Thursday:

You, yeah, you. I'm talking to you.

Your blog has been nominated for a 2011 Academy Award.

If you wish to decline the nomination, we need to hear about it by midnight EST on Friday, 2-10. If we do not hear back from you by then, the nominated blog will be included in a poll for member voting. We cannot change polls once they have been created.

You do not need to respond to this message if you accept the nominations. Non-response = acceptance.

Should you accept the nomination you are welcome to post the following graphic in your signature field, plus link to your blog should you chose to include that:

Don't post it until the polls are opened this weekend, though, or I'll take it down and stomp on it.

Yeah.

So if you're a member of American Girl Playthings, feel free to vote for Me. In all fairness, I'll post the other nominees in the Best Blog category once I learn who they are.

Someday.

A tip of the Tiny Top Hat

My dearest Steampunk Jess,

(Or Claire, depending on what you are calling yourself today.)

I take pen in hand (Thanks for the lovely Quick-Quotes Quill!) as I gaze upon your picture. And wear your Dress.

Mere words cannot Describe how I feel about this Dress. Momma and I have discovered  it is Hot in Arizona. Really Hot. Really, really Hot!

Thankfully your Dress arrived before I Melted.

Ahh, silk. Nothing beats the lovely feel of that deliciously cool Silk Skirt. And the sleeveless Cotton Shirtwaist! (Momma is a bit Scandalized but I have assured her it is Just the Thing.)

The lined jacket will feel Lovely in the evenings since I have been told that it gets Quite Chilly here at Night. It will also Protect my arms from the Nasty bugs buzzing around - mosquitos and a Really Ugly Beetle that keeps Annoying Me.

Do you like the Boots I found to go with it? I know you said the lining of the jacket was a Poison Green (and the Manufacturer called it Spinach!) but I think of it as Absinthe.

Sadly, I do have to Tell You that the Tiny Top Hat Suffered a Little in the Heat while in transit. I Know you will Recognize this quote, being a Fellow Time Traveler and all:
... And it blew the lovely, cream-colored ostrich feathers off Laura's hat.

She caught them with the very tips of her fingers as they were being whirled away. "Oh! Oh!" she exclaimed in vexation. "It must be they were not sewed on well."

"Miss Bell hasn't been in the west long enough yet," Almanzo said. "She is not used to prairie winds. Better let me put those feathers in my pocket before you lose them."

Do not despair though. I am respectably Hatted while Momma repairs the lovely Hat Your Momma made.

Meanwhile, I remain yours,

Faithfully,
Steampunk Addie

P.S. I am Scouting for Places to Take You when you Arrive in the Cooler Fall Weather.

Thank you, Thank you very much

I just want to publicly thank my Dear Friend, Steampunk Jess, for Literally giving Me the Clothes off her back.

Well, she didn't exactly Give them to Me, but with enough Bribery (and Threatening waves of my Stout Parasol) she Capitulated and Agreed they could be Mine.

(Oh! And her Momma said she might come for a Visit sometime This Year! Any suggestions where We should Go?)

Now to decide on Accessories.

Do these Boots Clash?

My smelling salts please

Oh my! I have Been Mentioned in Two blogs in ONE day! I do declare this has gone to my head! (Where's that fainting couch when you need one?)

But consider yourself Duly Warned, anyone who comes between Me and that Kindred Thread outfit will face the wrath of my Stout Parasol!
