This ain't no fairy tale

According to Momma I am getting closer to having my very own version of Aunt Marie's Trailer as seen on Grimm!

The first step was giving all the included accessories to my Big Sister.

The second step? Getting rid of all the raspberry pink trim.

Shudder.

Then all I have to do is stock it with books, weapons, and other Grimm artifacts!

Now, has anyone seen a tiny copy of Grimm's Fairy Tales?

 

The Green Fairy

Momma is continuing to dream about Abcynthia Wormwood* and her story.

Abcynthia is actually a Green Fairy who lost her wings when she left the Fae. Thankfully, a talented metalsmith created new wings for her.

Abcynthia's outfit includes "a blue dress with an attached petticoat and a decorated bodice with metal buttons, faux leather trim, thigh-high stockings, tall boots, and decorated arm gauntlets."

*Absinthe is an anise-flavoured spirit derived from botanicals, including the flowers and leaves of Artemisia absinthium (a.k.a. "grand wormwood"), together with green anise, sweet fennel, and other medicinal and culinary herbs. Absinthe traditionally has a natural green colour but may also be colorless. It is commonly referred to in French literature as "la fée verte" (the green fairy).

The Steampunk Letters

Momma's in the midst of (mentally) creating a new steampunk friend for me!

I don't know when she might actually appear in our lives, but introducing Abcynthia Wormwood!*

She's a combination of Wilde Imagination's Ellowyne Wilde line: the sold out Wicked Witch of the West and Imperium Park's Military Theory outfit.

Abcynthia has raven hair with dark brown eyes, and green vinyl skin. 

The Military Theory outfit "features a bodysuit with lace trim and collar decoration, textured pleather jacket with golden studs, textured pleather corset with golden buckles, rings, and stud decorations, crinkled chiffon skirt, pants, hat, matching pleather gloves and leg strap, daggers, and matching boots with golden buckles."

Turning a blind eye

I have finally figured out how to look at some of ma chère amie Cécile and Marie-Grace's new collection - I have become temporarily color-blind. 

Voilà! No more pink and blue pour moi:

For a fancy masquerade ball, Mademoiselle Océane lends Cécile and Marie-Grace these splendid ensembles, which were originally worn in an opera performance! Fairy-styled accessories complete the magnificent costume.

Thank goodness I can time-travel. Beginning in the 1880s, sepia was added to photographs by adding a pigment made from the Sepia officinalis cuttlefish to the paper print of a photograph!

We'll always have parrots

Oh my.

I am speechless, and as you probably know by now that doesn't happen very often.

American Girl put ma chère amie Cécile (and her friend Marie-Grace) on pre-sale last night.

While I am certain Marie-Grace (far right) is a very nice girl, she just doesn't interest me yet.

Parts of their collections are fabuleuse! and I can't wait to acquire them, but other pieces though are, um, well, répugnant in My Not So Humble Opinion.

And I can't decide where to start.

Should it be Cécile's Fabulous Parrot, Cochon? (What self-respecting pirate doesn't want a parrot?) But would someone please tell me why her parrot is called "Pig"?

Or the Pink Ruffled Crinoline I wouldn't be caught dead in - and please remember I don't say that lightly since a Yellow Jack epidemic is a major theme in their 1853 New Orleans stories! (One AG fan was disappointed that no "plague cart" was among the accessories!)

At least Addy's Crinoline was a plain (if boring) muslin. And My hoopskirt is black!

J'adore Cécile's Special Dress and think it would look magnifique on Me - with a few steampunk additions of course.

And the fancy gold boots. Gold boots! (I can't decide if I love 'em or hate 'em.) Did the designers hit the bourbon too hard while visiting Bourbon Street?

I can't even bring myself to look at the Fancy Dress & Fairy Costume photos again (Now you know why my eyes are weak!) so you'll have to look for yourself.

Hmm, it just occurred to me that Momma's friend Jennifer likes a Certain Green Fairy known as Tinker Bell.

Coincidence?
